When I use Tools… Data Management… Categories tab… Edit (default categories) and I add a new default category and then press Save button, I get a “Runtime error 62: Input past end of file”. What is happening?
This is a bug that has been fixed in NYC 5.97 and higher. A revised release of NYC 5.96 on 3/17/19 also included the fix.
We suggest you delete the “catlist.def” file in your user folder (c:\Users\Public\Documents\FFTS\Nyc596\user”). Then download and install NYC 5.96 again (makes sure it has the 3/17/19 date stamp – don’t accidentally reinstall the 3/4/19 release). Then try to Edit the Default Categories again and NYC will recreate the file, and everything should work correctly after that.
A workaround (not recommended) is to use a text editor and manually edit the file “catlist.def” in your NYC user folder. The integer at the top of the file is the count (# of default categories in the list). Add default categories alphabetically enclosed in quotes as shown in the file, then increment the number at the top of the file to reflect the total # of default categories in the list.
