Recipe Search Troubleshooting

When I select a category and search for recipes in that category across cookbooks, NYC shows only one recipe from the open cookbook, even though there are many recipes in the category in the open cookbook.  Is this a bug?

We have only seen this happen when the open cookbook’s category index is corrupted.  The only fix we found was to Rebuild Cookbook Index (Tools… Data Management > Cookbooks tab).  This will unfortunately uncategorize all recipes in the open cookbook, but you can use NYC’s auto-categorizing feature (Recipes… Categorize Multiple Recipes… Go button) to quickly recategorize them.  The result won’t exactly match your original categorization, but it’s better than continuing with a corrupted category index.  And your searches within a category across cookbooks will work properly after this.

When I search recipes from the Categorize Multiple Recipes window, the keyword search window appears with the “all cookbooks” option grayed out.  Why?

Each cookbook has its own categories, so you can only categorize recipes from the open cookbook into its own categories.  Categorizing recipes from another cookbook into the open cookbook’s categories makes no sense.  Thus, when you use this window, NYC helps you out by not showing recipes from other cookbooks in search results.
